spring is here! this is one of my favorite times of the year. the warm weather returning, the rain cooling off the earth. seeing the flowers slowly bloom each day into the beautiful blossoms they become. all the colors of pink, white, and yellow. all the green is returning. love it, love it.
the first day of spring has passed and we are still celebrating. this year is our first time making spring baskets for the kids. I almost didn’t know where to start. see how I did below!
first, I chose a book for each child. the book helps me set the theme of the basket. from there I added elements of what I felt like are spring. pastel colors, eggs, rabbits, lambs, and gardening aspects. I focused on choosing crafts or activities for the baskets.
in our baskets:
- oldest child’s book + middle child’s book
we got these books from Target during their circle week sale, also on Amazon.
- crochet bunny
I am super excited to get this for my kids this year. I love crochet bunnies. I choose this one with their initials so they can tell their bunnies apart. we got beige with white embroidery.
- wooden eggs
I saw an eight-pack of eggs on Amazon for $10 but I grab these from my local Michaels on sale for $5. I divided the eggs into the two baskets and we will paint them when we’re ready.
- watercolor paints + wooden paintbrushes
I got these at five below. I split the pack of paintbrushes between my kids, then picked some spring colors from the watercolor paints.
- gold chocolate bunny
this year I chose the lindt milk chocolate gold bunny, which I got from my local CVS, but you can find these almost anywhere.
- mini grow kits
these buzzy kits are a steal from Five Below, but I have also seen them at Target in the dollar area. I got daisies and lavender.
- gold plastic egg
this is a two-pack from my local CVS for $2 I split between the baskets
- oldest child’s playdough kit
my oldest has been asking me for playdough for days now so I am super excited to get them this mini bunny playdough kit from The Blissful Nest Shop on Etsy.
- middle child’s car
this is my kiddo’s first wooden car. I am excited to see their reaction. this one from RMS Toys is small and smooth.
this year, we got our baskets from Michaels. I wasn’t too impressed with these. they felt like plastic and broke easily. I am on the hunt for the perfect baskets to use year after year for spring festivities. are baskets a part of your family’s spring traditions?
